Satellite Hockey Reminder and Spring Event Calendar

Dear Friends and Fellow Alumni:

"The Year 2000 started off right for the RCNJ. RPI beat Princeton 6-2 in
Men’s Ice Hockey
on January 28. How can we top that?

Announcing the most varied event calendar we've ever had for one
academic semester. If you can't find an event that you would like to
attend this Spring, there may not be any hope for you. We have a 'sit
down' dinner, two sports / outdoor activities, and an admissions related
event where we honor the best math and science students from North
Jersey and New York City."

Dave Aiello continued:

We begin on March 23 with a dinner to honor Dr. Doyle Daves. Doyle, a
long time friend and supporter of the RCNJ, was until about a year ago,
the Dean of the Rensselaer School of Science. For the last year, he has
been the Interim Provost of Rensselaer.

Doyle Daves is best known to New Jersey Alumni, however, as the point
man in Troy for the Rensselaer - Liberty Science Center Internship
Program. Without his support, it would have been impossible for the
Liberty Science Center staff to identify and choose the interns that
they employ each year. He has also been a big supporter of our
Admissions related activities and our outreach programs that market
Rensselaer to influential Math and Science teachers in New Jersey high
schools.

Dr. Shirley Jackson, President of Rensselaer will be featured as a guest
speaker at this event. This is the second time that President Jackson
will speak at an Alumni gathering in the state of NJ. For more
information, consult the RCNJ Event Calendar on the home page of the Web
Site.

On Friday, May 5, join us at the Rensselaer Clubs of Metro NYC Annual
Alumni-Guest Golf Outing
. Again this year, the event will take place at
River Vale Country Club, a beautiful golf course within easy reach of
Alumni in North Jersey, Westchester County, and the City of New York.
The total cost of the golf outing is $130 per person. Contact Ray
Weisner
for more information.

The following day, May 6, we will hold our annual Whitewater Rafting
trip on the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania. More information will be
posted to the Web Site soon. In the mean time, contact John Cloninger
for more information.

The last event that is currently scheduled on our Spring event calendar
is the Rensselaer Medal Reception. This is another annual event
sponsored by the RCNJ, the Rensselaer Club of New York City, and the
Department of Undergraduate Admissions at Rensselaer.

This is always a great event because we get to meet the best math and
science students from the best high schools in North Jersey and New York
City. This is a unique opportunity to meet the next generation of high
achieving students and sell them on the benefits of a career in science
and technology in general, and a Rensselaer education in particular.

We hope that you will have the opportunity to attend one or more of
these events. Let us know if you have any comments, questions, or
suggestions about our Spring event calendar. Thank you for your
continued support of the Rensselaer Club of New Jersey.

Best regards,

Dave Aiello '89
